    The problem we're solving

Good maternity support shouldn't depend on your postcode. But for most parents in the UK, it does. Specialist care clusters around cities, NHS referral waits can run into months, and private support in person is often priced out of reach for anyone outside a major town.

Birth Rebel removes the postcode from the equation. Because every caregiver works virtually, you're not limited to whoever's within driving distance, you get matched with the right person for you, wherever you live.

    Meet your caregivers

    Doulas

Continuous emotional, informational and practical support through pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period, for every kind of birth. Your doula is available by video call, voice note and message, so you get consistent, judgement-free support wherever you are in the country. They can join your birth by video, help you prepare your birth preferences, or simply be the steady presence that makes uncertain moments feel more manageable. Support doesn't stop once baby arrives either, many doulas offer postnatal support too, from birth debriefs to help navigating the early weeks, or just someone to offload to.

    Lactation consultants

Most of our lactation consultants are IBCLC accredited, the gold standard in infant feeding support, qualified to help with everything from latch difficulties and low supply to tongue tie concerns and returning to work. Where a consultant isn't IBCLC accredited, they'll have many years of experience working with the NHS. We'll always tell you whether your matched caregiver holds IBCLC accreditation before you commit. Virtual consultations mean you're seen in your own home, genuinely the best place to observe a feed, without waiting weeks for an NHS referral.

    Hypnobirthing teachers

Hypnobirthing builds genuine confidence and calm for every birth, whatever direction it takes. This is especially true if you end up with a caesarean or things go off plan, hypnobirthing tools are there for that too, not just a straightforward vaginal birth. Your teacher will guide you through breathwork, relaxation and understanding how your body works in labour, taught virtually at your own pace, one-to-one or with a partner.

    Sleep consultants

One of the most in-demand and least accessible types of postnatal support. Most of our sleep experts are OCN Level 6 accredited. Where they're not, they bring years of experience working with the NHS, and every sleep expert on Birth Rebel adheres to the same code of conduct and safeguarding standards. They'll work with you on a plan that suits your baby's age, your family's values and what's actually sustainable for you, all without you having to leave the house.

    Why virtual works

For most of what parents need, virtual support isn't a compromise, it's often better. Lactation consultants frequently get a clearer picture of a feed observing it in your own home. Doulas can be there for more of your labour without a race across town. And you're never stuck choosing between "the best person for me" and "the person who happens to live nearby."

All you need is a phone, tablet or laptop and a decent internet connection. Where in-person, hands-on assessment is genuinely needed, your caregiver will always tell you clearly.

    Trusted, vetted caregivers

Every caregiver on Birth Rebel goes through our onboarding process before they appear on the platform. That includes verifying qualifications, checking insurance, and confirming an up-to-date DBS where applicable, and we meet every caregiver personally as part of onboarding them. Caregivers work within their scope of practice and will always refer you on if your needs fall outside what they can safely support.

Birth Rebel is not affiliated with the NHS, and our caregivers are not medical professionals. They work alongside your midwife and medical team, not instead of them.

    What it costs

Pricing varies depending on the type of support and the caregiver you're matched with. When you submit your care request, we ask about your general budget, so we can match you with a caregiver who fits it. Fees are agreed upfront between you and your caregiver, prices already include the platform fee, and there are no hidden charges. We'll always be clear about cost before you commit to anything.
